The Karlsruhe Decision & Design Lab (KD²Lab) is one of the world’s largest experimental research infrastructures for studying human behavior and economic decision‑making. Building on the principles of experimental economics, it combines a highly controlled laboratory environment with state‑of‑the‑art biosignal technology and a technology‑design perspective. The KD²Lab enables excellent human‑subject research across a wide range of disciplines. In line with KIT’s motto “Science for Impact,” the KD²Lab creates scientific foundations for research and innovation that sustainably advance our understanding of human behavior and the design of intelligent systems. The KD2-Panel encompasses more than 3,000 participants that can be invited to online as well as on-site studies.

The lab has two technically and spatially separated areas with 40 soundproof, air-conditioned computer cubicles, including wheelchair-accessible cubicles. The lab also offers two large team rooms for group studies and an immersive space for conducting biosignal and VR studies.
